StarBalkans Summer School programmes give children and young people aged 8–18 the opportunity to combine learning with international experience, cultural and sports activities, and personal development in a safe, intercultural environment.
To date, our Summer School programmes have taken place outside Albania, in cooperation with international partners and organisers. Destinations, programmes and duration vary depending on active partnerships and the options available each season.
StarBalkans selects programmes based on academic quality, safety, host organiser standards, accommodation, the activity programme and suitability for the age group.
What does the experience include?
Summer School combines different elements of education and development, including:
• academic and learning programmes;
• practice and development of foreign languages;
• cultural and sports activities;
• excursions and visits;
• socialising and making international friendships;
• developing independence and confidence;
• discovering new cultures and environments;
• personal and academic development;
• preparation for future international experiences.
The programmes aim for children to learn while also living a new experience, combining education, culture, socialising and enjoyment.
The role of StarBalkans
StarBalkans manages and coordinates the process from programme selection through to the end of the experience.
This includes:
• selecting the international partner and programme;
• informing and communicating with parents;
• managing registrations;
• coordinating the group;
• assisting with documentation;
• direct communication with the host organiser;
• preparing participants before departure;
• accompanying the group with a chaperone / Group Leader from Albania;
• assistance during the stay;
• ongoing communication with parents;
• following the process through to completion and the group’s return.
Safety & Care
The safety and wellbeing of participants are important factors in selecting every programme.
The group is accompanied by a chaperone from Albania, while during the programme participants are also under the care and supervision of the host organiser’s staff.
Throughout the stay, communication with parents is maintained, along with coordination between StarBalkans, the group chaperone and the international organiser.
Duration & Destinations
Programmes may vary in length. The choice of option depends on the programme, destination and participants’ interest, also taking into account the preference of most interested families.
Destinations change from one season to another and depend on international partners and StarBalkans’ active programmes.
What does the package include?
Depending on the programme, the package usually includes:
• the academic programme;
• accommodation;
• meals;
• cultural activities;
• sports activities;
• excursions;
• supervision by the host organiser;
• a participation certificate.
Travel tickets, insurance and transport are the responsibility of the parent/family and are not included in the programme fee.
Fees
All Summer School programmes are fee-based.
The price varies depending on the destination, international partner, duration and programme package.
